Liberal Democrats are calling for the West of England Mayor to work with them to find creative ways to deliver better bus services for local people.
Thornbury Liberal Democrats are a growing and enthusiastic group of local volunteers who are determined to improve life in the ward. Better bus services, and maintaining and improving civic amenities — such as upgraded healthcare facilities — are especially prominent in their campaigns. Improving the local environment and addressing the Climate Emergency are themes that influence many aspects of this work. Like other South Gloucestershire Liberal Democrats, they champion a Council that is responsive and accountable to the Public.
Maggie, Jayne and Chris received nearly 5000 more votes than their Conservative opposition in the 2023 local elections.

The Liberal Democrats successfully forced South Gloucestershire Council to pass a motion at this week’s Annual Council Meeting, calling for a significant increase in rural bus services, to be paid for with funding from Central Government.
On two occasions on Wednesday night South Gloucestershire’s Conservatives voted against paying key workers the Real Living Wage.
At Wednesday's South Gloucestershire Council meeting, every Conservative Councillor present (with one abstention) voted not to allow members of the public to speak at planning site visits.
South Gloucestershire’s Liberal Democrats have called on the Government to publish the scientific evidence on which they’ve based their decision to open up schools to more pupils and to give schools and the public more guidance.
