
Lib Dems win backing for action on climate and the cost of living
The Liberal Democrats welcomed acceptance of their plans to tackle climate change and the cost-of-living crisis at Wednesday’s South Gloucestershire Council budget meeting.
The Liberal Democrats have represented Frampton Cotterell ward — including in its previous form — on South Gloucestershire Council for many years. Tristan, Jon and David are highly experienced councillors with Jon and Tristan having represented the ward since 2019.
Electorally, the fight in this ward is usually between the Liberal Democrats and the Tories. In the 2023 local elections the Liberal Democrat team increased their majority to more than 2200 votes over the Conservatives.

At last night’s Full Council meeting of South Gloucestershire Council Liberal Democrats were dismayed that the ruling Conservative group would not support their motion calling on the government to give water companies and councils the powers to stop poor housing developments exacerbating the already struggling water infrastructure which can lead to raw sewage being discharged into rivers and seas.
Liberal Democrats challenged South Gloucestershire Conservatives on their Government’s disastrous mini budget and mishandling of the Energy Crisis in the Full Council Meeting on 12th October.
South Glos Council has proposed converting the council owned land at Frampton End Farm into a Nature Reserve to support the delivery of the council’s Climate Emergency Declaration.
At Friday's WECA meeting with the Metro Mayor, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on South Gloucestershire Council, Cllr Claire Young spoke in support of the Yate Spur and Alveston Hill Cycleway schemes.
