South Gloucestershire Liberal Democrats have announced a resounding victory for the community with the successful extension of the 84/85 bus service. Thanks to the relentless efforts by Councillors Adrian Rush and John O’Neill, local residents can now continue to rely on this vital service.
The 84/85, which serves residents across Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Charfield, Hawkesbury Upton, amongst many others, has been facing persistent threat in the wake of cuts announced by the previous Conservative administration. Under the leadership of the Liberal Democrats, South Gloucestershire Council has taken proactive measures to extend the service to allow WECA time to find a long term solution.
Cllr Claire Young (Leader of South Gloucestershire Council) said:
"I am delighted that our administration has successfully secured an extension to the 84/85 bus service. This decision reflects our commitment to actively listen to residents and work towards delivering their priorities."
Cllr Adrian Rush (Member for Chipping Sodbury and Cotswold Edge) said:
"I have been contacted by numerous residents concerned about the loss of the 84/85 bus service. I am truly glad that we have successfully secured an extension, but our work doesn't stop here. I am dedicated to finding a long-term solution on behalf of local residents."
