Louise gives up her free time to serve our community unpaid. She’s a volunteer on Dodington Parish Council (and has just been re-elected unopposed), working with Abbotswood residents, volunteering at Wapley Bushes on conservation projects and running charity stalls at events like Yate Rocks or on the Shopping Centre. Whether it is painting the railings at Abbotswood or trying to ensure a future for the Shire Way community centre, if something needs doing, Louise will be there helping.
After being born in an RAF hospital, she grew up locally – many residents know her father, popular local musician, Chris Harris. She lives on Shireway.
Louise has over 30 years experience of working with vulnerable people - she works for a mental health charity providing advocacy for people with mental health issues and learning disabilities. She uses that experience to get things done for individuals and her community.
Louise has decades of experience from her work with vulnerable people, as a local volunteer, campaigner and as a councillor speaking up for residents. She has represented Dodington ward on South Glos Council and been a Dodington Parish Councillor since 2018. Louise is proud of her record on fighting to protect our environment, going back to campaigning on Acid Rain as a student in the 1980s. She helped to get cross-party backing for declaring a Climate Emergency in South Gloucestershire and leads for the Lib Dems on tackling the Climate Emergency and Community issues. Fighting for social justice, the environment and above all, standing up for our community are Louise’s passions.
