The Lib Dem Local Plan Protects our Countryside
Your Focus Team is delighted that following years of uncertainty, the emerging strategy in the Local Plan developed by Lib Dem led South Glos Council protects valuable countryside in our area.
We campaigned hard against Conservative plans to build 1,800 homes on the land east of Roundways and again when dormouse boxes were found on the land near Black Rocks – an early indicator of developer interest.
These successes, coupled with success in getting land at Frampton End Farm designated as a nature reserve mean that our villages will retain their sense of identity and remain surrounded by countryside for residents to enjoy.
David says, “I am aware of just how valuable our countryside is. So, I want to join Jon and Tristan on South Glos Council to be able to continue to fight for it.
“We also oppose recent changes to inheritance tax for farmers which may force many to give up. Farms play a key role in protecting our rural community and we will continue to campaign for them – encouraging sustainable farming and protection of our environment.”
