MP Claire Young voices opposition to Yate Rocks development

Responding to new proposals from Clifton Homes, which would see 67 new residential properties built on land at Gravel Hill and see Yate Rocks absorbed into the town, Thornbury & Yate MP Claire Young said:
“For many years now the land that separates Yate Rocks has been protected. This reflects the unique history and distinct character, while also recognising they are still part of our wider community.
“Liberal Democrats have long stood up for residents by opposing developer’s attempts to concrete over the area and absorb them into the town. We of course need to see new homes built, but there are ways to do so without bulldozing our local parishes.
“This is why the area was protected and not allocated for house building in the Council’s new local plan, which set out more sustainable ways to help unlock thousands of new homes without allowing a developer free-for-all to take place.
“I will be formally objecting to the proposals and urge others to join me in helping to protect the future of Yate Rocks.”
