Thornbury & Yate MP Claire Young has been elected to sit on the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee in Parliament.

As one of two Liberal Democrats on the important select committee, Claire’s work will focus on holding the Government to account over its energy policies and overseeing the push for Net Zero to ensure it delivers for local residents.

Speaking on her appointment, Claire said:

“As a newly elected MP, it’s great to be able to get stuck in and work on one of the most important issues facing our society.

“I look forward to supporting the UK's push for Net Zero, working to cut your energy bills, and ensure we keep the lights on here at home. I will be holding the Government’s feet to the fire to ensure it delivers for local people.”
