Action on the cost of living
We are all paying the price of Conservative failure.
Hard working people have been hit with a triple whammy of high inflation, interest rates and energy bills.
For many it’s been a nightmare trying to make ends meet. Many homeowners are yet to feel the worst impact as fixed rate mortgages mean rates will be going up for many sometime this year. If you rent it’s no better as landlords are forced to increase rents.
Although Covid and the conflict in Ukraine have played a part, Claire says it’s right to blame the Conservatives for what has gone wrong.
The Liz Truss budget crashed the economy and we have been paying the price ever since. Brexit hasn’t helped and the Conservatives seem to have run clean out of ideas. When compared to other economies we are failing and that means higher mortgages, rents and weekly shopping bills for people living in Thornbury and Yate.
Claire will keep campaigning for the Liberal Democrats’ plan to support people facing soaring mortgage payments by scrapping the out of touch Conservatives’ £3 billion tax cut for the banks.
Liberal Democrats also want renters to get a fairer deal through the introduction of longer tenancies with fair rent increases built in.
